For, after all, put it as we may to ourselves, we are all of us from birth to death guests at a table which we did not spread. The sun, the earth, love, friends, our very breath are parts of the banquet…. Shall we think of the day as a chance to come nearer to our Host, and to find out something of Him who has fed us so long? {Rebecca Harding Davis}
In the hustle and bustle of this time of year it’s so easy to lose sight of what truly matters.
This past week I was reminded of an important lesson…life is precious. Remember my gibberish speaking Grandma Vi? Less than a week ago she had a stroke and lost her ability to walk and speak.
And today, on Thanksgiving, she is able to celebrate the day and her life with my family. She can walk the hospital hallways, laugh at jokes, and best of all, talk to me on the phone.
So, today and everyday, these are the things I’m thankful for.
My incredible family.
My other incredible family
My fur-babies.
I’m thankful that Thunder is still kickin’ at the age of 15, that Maggie has the mellow personality, that Jordan sounds like a baby bear and Nike is my snuggle bug.
My feather babies.
I’m so thankful one of my lifelong dreams to have chickens came true this year.
Our beautiful home.
I’m so thankful for the roof over my head and the memories being made.
I’m so thankful for this simple lesson…life is precious. None of us are promised another day. Today is a gift. We have the ability to make the most of each day we are given. So live life to the fullest.
Laugh often. Love deeply. Give thanks.
I’m so thankful for this life that I’ve been given.
